edit: the french exam for english speakers is 10 fold harder

My son is a Canadian born in the US - never lived in Canada, but father is from Quebec. What is the procedure to get on Quebec healthcare if he goes to Mcgill? I assume he would be eligible, no? Also is there a chance he can get Quebec residency at some point?

Talk to the people at the McGill admissions office, they will tell you what to do about Quebec residency as far as they are concerned. The RAMQ is a different story as I mentioned above. Your son may not get the insurance at first try, but it may work later. If your sons father is a francophone, it might be helpful for him to go with your son to apply. My husband immigrated from England to Quebec as a small child. If we had been able to dig up some records from his life there, we could also have used them to establish my daughter’s residency. At least, that was what we were told. My husband spent a fair bit of time researching all of this on the internet and making phone calls for confirmation. Unfortunately, he is traveling right now, or I could provide you with some links.

Thanks - my husband is from Quebec - came to the US in 1980 - maybe this will work at some point. The rest of his family is still there.
