American to Union Station after Eagle Summit

I am making our Amtrak reservations to attend the Eagle Summit. The summit is due to end at 4 PM on the second day, if attending the breakout sessions (Honors, Financial Aid, Athletics). Trains leave Union Station at 6:06 and 7:10 pm. Based on waiting for the shuttle and the metro, is it safer to reserve the 7:10 train? Have never visited AU by train so I am unsure of the timing.

According to [Metro - Home page](http://www.wmata.com), the trip from Tenleytown Metro to Union Station is about 20 minutes.

You can get a sense of how frequently the trains come if you plug in the day/time you want to travel.

You can make the 6:06, but since the food on Amtrak is so awful, I’d recommend you book the later train and stop for a bite in Tenleytown or Union Station.

Leaving AU around 4, there is no reason (short of Metro delays) why he can’t make it to Union Station by 5pm. As for food, he should be able to pick up some takeout in Union Station and eat it on the train.
