Ok so this one’s gonna be lengthy. I’m currently a first-year at a US top 75 (public) university and I’m pretty sure I want to transfer to a college/university in the UK/Ireland. I’ll quickly go over my stats because I’m not sure that matters all that much…
ACT: 31 (superscores to 32)
HS GPA: 4.3
First Semester GPA: 3.71
The reason I didn’t include APs is that, from what I can tell, since I have college experience they don’t carry meaning. I’m currently thinking of UCL, LSE, Durham, Edinburgh, and St. Andrews, as well as possibly Trinity of Dublin. What are the odds looking like for that? I know that the odds are I would just have to start over and I’m honestly fine with that (though if I could transfer that would obviously be ideal). Are the odds working in my favor or should I be looking at a different set? Thanks so much!
You’ll still have to report all your scores, so if you don’t have good AP scores then it will have an impact on the evaluation of your application. Yes your college grades will help, but when applying to top U.K. schools your whole application is relevant.
Have you investigated how transfer admission works in the UK?
I briefly considered transferring to a German or Swiss university after my 2nd year in college. All universities instructed me to apply for freshman admission using my high school credentials. They said they could evaluate my US transcripts for transfer credits after I matriculate, but also cautioned that I probably wouldn’t get a lot of credits because US degree programs are structured very differently.
They’ll still look at your APs, not least because they are standardised and so easily comparable with other US applicants, whereas your college grades aren’t. You definitely need to include them in your aplicatiopn, anyway.
Are you aware of
application.
Are you aware of deadline dates approaching?
Deadlines are Jan15.
To evaluate you properly we need your AP scores and what specific “course” you’re applying for.
