American Universities Abroad

Do they have any merit? Anyone had any experiences with them?

American University of Paris www.aup.fr
American University of Rome www.aur.edu
John Cabot University, Rome www.johncabot.edu
University of Richmond, London www.richmond.ac.uk

It could also have something to do with the fact that there is a Harvard Club in Paris.

or that many of the greatest 19th and 20th century american public intellectuals spent formative years in paris

Excuse me, I was being facetious.

helen i would also look at some of the british schools, see if they allow transfers. Helen, you are clearly qualified for any of these programs. In fact to be brutally honest, you are one of the most qualified applicants on the transfer board. The problem is that all of the most qualified students are applying to all of the most competitive programs....

I was looking for summer programs since I am leaving for Europe in 10 days (for the entire summer), and no, British Schools (Oxbridge) do not allow transfers...

Helen, i know that kings college and lse both have summer sessions. i am pretty sure that the sourebon (sp.) has a summer session as well, but I am not sure if the language of instruction is english. I am know that NYU has a campus in italy, chicago has a campus in paris, etc etc. I am sorry I do not have specifics, just ideas.

They have summer and study abroad programs, if I am not mistaken; however, they are likely full.

Just received the notification, got into University of Miami :)

Helen, although it was not where you wanted to go, I am so glad you got in somewhere...at least you have something for next year

Thanks Phoniex2008...still waiting for a couple of decisions :) UM is not a bad school :)

I've been considering John Cabot, too. I think it would be fun there. I think something like 80% of the students there are from other universities (American and European), which means lots of new friends to meet.

Looks nice. And learning Italian is a definite plus :)
