My daughter was just admitted to American off of the wait list. She would like to attend their “Freshman day,” but we can’t find any info about it on their website. Does anyone who was admitted know what day it is?
Parent of current AU student here. The AU website is very hard to navigate. I’ve been doing it for 3.5 years, and couldn’t find anything on their Accepted Student Day. It may have been held already. What I would do: have my kid log onto their propective student portal and look there for any info about visiting.
Even if you’ve missed the “official” day, admitted high school seniors can still schedule a day visit in April. I found this on their public web: https://www.american.edu/admissions/experience-au/day-visits.cfm
Also -here is a link on calling an admisions rep assigned to your state:

Good luck! My kid loves AU.
Congratulations!
There is a “freshman day” on Friday, April 20. You can find info for the admitted students overnight at American.edu/admissions/aso.cfm
I’m curious about the waitlist. Were you surprised to hear back this early? Most colleges don’t notify until after 5/1.
Enjoy DC!!
Are you committing to AU or are you still trying to decide? For students who have put down their deposits, they have the Eagle Summit https://www.american.edu/ocl/orientation/eagle-summit.cfm My son (ED1) will be attending fall 2018 and their communication has been less than stellar. I have found that if you call the people are very helpful. Our AU Rep gave us incorrect information, so if you have any questions try to go directly to the department to make sure you get the right answer. We went to a preview day that was very informative, but there are none scheduled until July & August.
I believe Freshman day registration is through this: https://www.american.edu/admissions/prospective-student-portal.cfm
Freshman day is April 20th this year. That is for all students who are undecided and want to tour the campus before deciding. I would call the Office of Admission or have your student look at their AU email for registration details.
Orientation, or what is called Eagle Summit at AU, will not be held until June/July. The information regarding Eagle Summit is still very limited as construction is causing flux in locations and such. But you are able to register once you deposit at https://www.american.edu/ocl/orientation/eagle-summit.cfm. It is my understanding that a full schedule will be released in May.
Yes, call admissions right away. Although unlikely, an overnight session may be available too, if they aren’t full or occurred already. My son was just on campus for an overnight yesterday.
