? ..............

it is very loose, i wouldn't worry about it at all

but i would worry about the leadership there. The president was impeached and i think fired. The interim president resigned after he heard the committee deciding on how much money they should give to the former president accused of financial fraud.

what do u mean by very loose??? no seems to have answered my question?

My (jewish) father went there and said he was totally unaware about the connection, if that helps gives you any idea. I visited last spring and saw no crosses or anything, even though there is a church on campus--as I think there are at colleges, anyway.

If you are asking for the definition of the statement, it means that American University, however loosely, has religious connections with the United Methodist Church.

You have religiously affiliated colleges and religiously oriented colleges and it is helpful to know the distinction. Both are owned by the designated church organization. Religiously oriented colleges are what you would think of as having an expectation that you follow religion while in college. An example is Wheaton College in Illinois where students have a strict code of conduct, are expected to attend weekly services, and take several religious courses. Reliously affiliated colleges are much closer to secular colleges; you usually have to meet a one or two course religion requirement but the choice of courses will include such courses as history of world religions or religions in the modern world and beyond that you are not required or even expected to do anything religious although chapels and other things are available if you desire to use them.

It means you have to go to church every sunday and be a walking Wesley. This is a stupid question.

now i dont want to go to AU, if i have to go to church or if church is a big thing at AU, i prefer not going there, now i need to find another college i would like to apply to :(

You really should look into how large of a role religion plays in AU. It could be that its a miniscule part of campus life.

sonic pwr, in case you did not read my post above please do so. AU is a religiously "affiliated" college; you won't have to attend weekly services.
