Is American University religiously affiliated? I.E. Methodist. Does this have any impact on the campus or student life? Thanks

AU has a Methodist affiliation, and AU Methodists is an active group. But I don't think the two are related. There are only two effects of this affiliation that I know of:
1) if AU ever ceased to exist the land would go back to the Methodist Church
2) there are scholarships for children of Methodist pastors

Hope this helps!

So it doesn't feel like a religious school? There isn't like group prayer on campus or such (like Notre Dame or Georgetown). Thanks for the response!

There are religious groups who host meetings/ food events/ awareness events. AU Methodists gives out chocolate come finals time. Hillel (the Jewish group) hosts a lot of events. You will be surrounded by religion because there are religious people on campus. But no, nothing is directly sanctioned by the University and AU does not impose any expectations about religion on you. By the way, the Kay Spiritual Life Center building looks like a flaming cupcake. No joke.

I will have to come visit it an see. Still unsure it is a tough decision between washington,gw,au,nyu, tulane, miami,or usc/ucla if I can get in.
