I found out my acceptance via logging into my student account viewing my financial aid award letter and housing enrollment agreement. I did this yesterday. I was given a 37K grant (:
I can’t find my AUID. All I have is the email with my password. Is there another way of getting this information?
@InvictusManeo Call admissions if you cant find it on your paperwork.
Nothing in CT yet today…anyone else in CT?
Nothing here in NC
Nothing in KY
Would it be bad to call admissions?
@Ericthenewyorker It is never bad to call admissions as it always shows interest.
Was it the Fredrick Douglass Scholarship?
@ohrly123 haha do you think they’d give me my admissions status?
@IBkush
Established in 2009, the vision of the Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholars (FDDS) program is to be the premier academic community for American University’s most ambitious student and alumni leaders dedicated to excellence, social justice, and the sustainable advancement of under-resourced and underserved communities.
Bringing together the best of AU – world-class education, leadership development, and active citizenship – the FDDS program will elevate the college-to-career experience of our most enterprising Honors students and propel them into successful careers in domestic and international health, business, government, law, communications, and education. To this end, American University has designed programs and established partnerships that precipitate a mutually respectful community of scholars where our students and alumni share in a greater purpose to develop to their full potential; to contribute to the intellectual, social, and political environment of the institution; to proactively prepare for graduate and professional school; and to address the world’s most pressing economic, environmental, and social challenges.
The FDDS program offers a scholarship that provides full tuition, fees, books, room, and board. It is renewable for a total of four years of undergraduate study, provided scholars maintain a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA. Students applying as freshmen who would like to be considered for the scholarship must complete the FDDS Program application by January 15. Preference will be given to first-generation students as well as those committed to working in communities of color in the United States. While we encourage applications from all ambitious, well-rounded students, the most competitive applicants will have a minimum:
3.2 GPA (unweighted) or 3.4 GPA (weighted) and
1150 SAT (critical reading/math) or 25 ACT.
For more information, contact the Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholars Program at 202-885-6213 or fdds@american.edu.
@Ericthenewyorker Probably not but you can ask for your 7 character Student ID. If you get that you can look back a few pages for instructions on how to find out, via their website, if you have been accepted.
@ohrly123 yeah I called and they said it was a glitch… I used the student ID I recieved in the most recent email and I couldn’t get in… I wonder if it would be worth asking for a student ID (hopefully it’s a different one)
@Ericthenewyorker I only know of the Student ID ( 7 character one ) and then I created a UserName for the AU Portal.
@ohrly123 yeah it wouldn’t let me a create a user name
in your letter’s did you guys receive MERIT AID information? I got financial aid information but not any merit…does that mean I didn’t receive any $$$$ ???
Most likely AU fixed the glitch you all found and publicly posted here and on tumbler. CC and all social media is monitored by admissions staff. Just my thoughts and to remind you that this was not a very smart move because everything you do online is public and traceable. I am always reminding everyone that the internet is very powerful and I would not want any of you seniors to mess up your admissions because of this. Be careful…sit back and as difficult as the waiting is, you will get your decisions and it will soon be over.
Got a letter in VA today! My letter specifically references stuff I wrote in my essays, but I feel like it would be too optimistic of me to assume that they didn’t do that for every accepted applicant…
@london2va That is classy. Some of us in ED1 received congratulatory phone calls from our admission officer which amazed me that they would take the time to do that. It was uplifting.
@InvictusManeo Have you gone to your email inbox and searched “American University”? In the email announcing when they’re mailing the letters as well as the email confirming your applications submission it is on the very bottom of the message.
