I am an accepted student and couldn’t make an account. I tried everything, checked everything ten times. Still nothing. Not sure if it matters that I applied from abroad but I’m not sure what’s going on. For some reason, I received my acceptance v. early on (March 3rd). Seems strange to me.
Can’t create the myAU account yet but I’m not holding out hope yet; I had a 29 single ACT first time and 1990 SAT first time along with a steady job as a swim instructor, post-liver-transplant survivor and visiting the campus and going to information sessions about AU at my high school. I also called the office of admissions just so I didn’t throw up from anxiety and she said the portal wasn’t even supposed to open officially until tomorrow and there are still glitches in the system - both for people who got in or got rejected.
@PoliSciGuy23 You just calmed my crazy nerves, I tried logging on too and expect to get in since I made it 2nd round to every program and second round for FDDS
Hoping for the best for the people that REALLY want to go to AU. When I toured I would grab someone and ask them their true feelings. They all seemed to really love it.
Just as an update, I wasn’t able to see my financial aid on my account but I did receive a merit scholarship, stated in the letter.
Where are all the actual letters landing?? Did they really go out? It seems like most acceptances here are finding out through the “back-door” portal approach…
@citybus how could it be our fault that we used the ID they gave us to make an account that just happened to tell us our decisions? It isn’t like we knew it was a glitch that we were taking advantage of and it’s not like we hacked the system. They aren’t going to reverse people’s decisions because of human curiosity and technological error on their part.
@Cameron121 People nearest to American are receiving decisions (kids in VA, MD, and DC mostly), so letters have definitely gone out. I got mine today, and I live fairly close to the VA border with DC.
I’m really freaking out about the backdoor portal. What if our decisions are revoked? I immediately regretted doing it right after the fact so nervous
@victorose5 look at my previous comment, THEY WON’T REVOKE YOUR DECISION. You didn’t hack anything or access information that wasn’t available to you. They never said: “don’t try to make an AUID account with this number we sent you”. You and everybody else who used the “backdoor portal” are not at fault, including myself. Think about how many strong applicants have used the “backdoor portal” and posted it on here, many probably haven’t posted it on here. They would not rescind the decisions of all of the class that they hand selected because of a computer system glitch.
They are not going to revoke your admission - the letters are already in the mail. There would be a legal and ethical firestorm around that action that would not be worth it for the university. If you look at other schools on here, these sorts of tricks happen all the time. I’ll bet they didn’t even fix the “glitch” which wasn’t actually a glitch, b/c you weren’t supposed to know how to do it in the first place. It’s their fault for leaving a window open for stressed out kids to jump through. Also, it happened last year as well (that’s where an earlier poster got the info from) so if it was that big of a deal to them, they would have fixed it for this year. Relax, and CONGRATS @victorose5, you’re IN!!!
Thank you both for easing my nerves…I needed that reassurance. Congrats to both of you as well!
Hold your congrats for us - my son actually didn’t want to check - not b/c he was worried about getting in trouble but he wanted to wait for the old-school response. Go figure, I’m freaking out and he’s as cool as a cucumber
Yes, we found out last year that my daughter was accepted by going thru the same “back door” before that actual letter came. It was all over the acceptance thread like it is this time and no one got in trouble and I doubt AU would care enough to “fix” it even if they know about it. Most schools let you find out your status on line anyway so why would AU be bothered by this? And as someone else pointed out- letters are already in the mail so decisions have been made.
Don’t worry and best of luck to all, my daughter loves AU!
It’s odd that a lot of you haven’t heard from them yet!
I’m from Germany and they already sent me an email yesterday - I got in
Good luck to all of you!
Should I assume if I cant log in to the account I didnt get in? no letter yet…
Just got letter today and it does take several days to mail all of those packets, so hang in there, Skibbles…
@premature_gray Congrats. Is AU your first choice?
@premature_gray was the packet USPS priority?
@dogluuuver97 ED1 was just regular USPS bulk mail.
