American vs GW vs NYU

I was accepted to these schools (plus some others but it's between these three) and I'm not sure which one to pick. I want to go for International Relations, and the prices are roughly comparable. Which one should I go to?

PS: I'm just doing this for extra feedback. My guidance counselour doesn't know much about going into my major (I want to work for the government/state department eventually).

For IR, go GW

GW fo sho!

For pure academics, I’d say GW is slightly stronger than American. Though I’d strongly encourage you to consider the real campus and smaller student body AU supplies.

Thanks for the input. What about connections to find jobs later on? Is there a strong difference there? Anybody else?

Since you say you want to work for the government, I say GW absolutely! My D was a student there anbd many of her friends had jobs and internships with the government during the school year. You can walk a few blocks to your government job.

AU is considered to have a far stronger career center, and with it, connections to internships during the school year. (Foreign Policy Magazine ranks them exactly the same.)

bump…please help i’m getting slightly conflicting reports…

But it’s pretty much betweeen GW and AU.

GW is more prestigious and AU. And it does have a campus, though it’s not a define plot of land like most colleges, you can still tell that there is one. It’s IR program is one of the best, so go with it.

GW has more career and internship opportunities than students. It also has an excellent study abroad program. I’d say GW.

Many GW students have TWO internships during their college years. I vote for GW.

While people love to debate endlessly the relative merits of the DC universities, the truth is, within the field, AU and GW are viewed as roughly equivalent. The decision should be based on feel (preference for the larger, more urban GW or the more college campusy, suburban feel of AU.
