<p>Let’s start a thread that indicates Amherst College as the first choice college over other collleges and unidversities. Decision day is right around the corner. This thread may help people to make decisions.</p>

<p>DS has chosen Amherst over Northwestern, and U Chicago.</p>
<p>D chose Amherst over Kenyon (second choice) and many other LAC.</p>
<p>Nothing too compelling.</p>
<p>Lacs: wesleyan, vassar, wellesley.
Universities: carnegie mellon, ucla, uc berkeley.</p>
<p>Let’s not.</p>
<p>So wait, I think a more pointed title might be “let’s brag about where we/our kids got into college and be pretentious elitists.” This thread is weird.</p>

<p>My intention was to tell people how we had felt about Amherst. We visited the school and fell in love with it. It was not braging of any kinds. I am sorry if you feel this way.</p>
<p>My kid has been there for a few years now, Worryfree, and he’s very happy there. Congratulations to your son. It is a really special place. :)</p>
<p>My daughter is a junior and she plans to apply to Amherst in the fall. I will appreciate any pros and cons you may want to talk about so she’s more informed about her choices. I mean inside information that she can’t really find on their website. She will not get a chance to visit before (or after) applying. Any tips are welcome. Thanks.</p>
