Okay, thanks VPac!

just checked my son’s email spam, and there it was.

i’m going in october! anyone else?

raw, my D is going in October - she is excited!

I’m wondering if anyone else is having issues figuring out travel booking. We are 250 miles away ( so air travel not an option acc to their protocol) and don’t know whether to choose bus or train. Neither bus or train has efficient travel at all (train seems to be more than 18 hours to get her there and the route is like three sides of a triangle! ) and bus timing is terrible as well, 9 hours each way and she would miss the Monday AM classes. I have tried to call the admissions office ( # on the travel booking email ) but just get an outgoing message with no option to leave a voicemail. I will email if I can’t reach them by phone after a few more tries.

Anyone else have booking issues and if so what did you do?

My time zone makes it so that it’s well into the evening in MA when I get home from school, so I emailed them. The travel agent got back to me within the next day. I had to say no the the first itinerary that was offered, and I was given a second choice the next day.

With that being said, you should probably ask your D which route she’d prefer to choose between bus and train.

Just to follow up, they decided to fly D in because of the lack of efficient bus or train routes. I was concerned that they would stick to their mileage policy but they made the decision for air travel before we even had to ask. I’ve been very impressed with the quality of communications and with the attentiveness and thoughtful way staff has handled everything; an admissions rep even told D they wanted to make sure she was well rested for the program etc. They have been communicating mostly with D, as it should be, but Amherst has definitely been bumped up in my estimation already. I’m sure the students attending DIVOH this fall will find an exciting and well planned experience awaiting them.

So VERY excited for all of you getting ready for tomorrow’s DIVOH program. My D is leaving at 5:45 am. Best wishes - and perhaps see you all next fall when you move into your Amherst dorms :-)
