Amherst fall 2016 Regular decision

How’s everyone?! Good luck for next week!

@nsliyromanov next week?

If they follow the pattern of the previous years it will be Friday March 25th. But ACData is indeed down today (theysaid through Tuesday?), that could mean decisions earlier than Friday.

Seems that the update is over - ACData is back up…

@OHMomof2 @Scriant but would Amherst release decisions on Good Friday?

@tel123 I don’t really see why they wouldn’t (I’m not Christian though, so I wouldn’t know if Good Friday had certain connotations that would make it unacceptable).

@Scriant lol me neither, but according to google it’s a day of “fasting and penance”. no idea whether they would or not, but my parents said that it would “seem a little inconsiderate” if they did.

@Grapess, here too? I’m pretty sure you’ll make it. Me though?.. I can only hope…

Good Friday is a pretty important deal to Catholics/Christians as it is the day recognized as Jesus’ crucifixion but I don’t really see a non-religious school not doing something because of it. If it was Georgetown or something then I could see them not doing it on Good Friday but I don’t personally think that’ll cause Amherst to change the day. But what do I know, haha.

Here’s to hoping that any deviation due to Good Friday results in an earlier release.

So what are our guesses? Mid week say, Wednesday?

How far in advanced will they let us know?

Has anyone tried calling the admissions office? Maybe if people try starting tomorrow we’ll get a date

I know someone that called the admissions office on Friday afternoon and they said they still weren’t sure about the release date.

I just called they said the week of April 1st

Why is Amherst so slow? They don’t get that many applications relative to other top unis, right?

Yeah, its about 9000 applicants. I guess they have thorough selection process.

They’re still winnowing the 9000 down to around 1000 (if those are the numbers this year), they’re only shooting for a class of about 475. I think you can assume a small college won’t have as large an admissions office as larger universities, either.

That said, they always say “week of April 1” and always send decisions a bit earlier. This might be the year they go late but history suggests that’s unlikely.

Is any of you guys’ ACData still down?

Greetings from Amherst!

Late in the day on Friday, March 25, the Amherst College Office of Admission will post decisions for first-year applicants through individual ACData portals.

You’ll be required to enter your Amherst user name and password to access your ACData account, so we recommend that you confirm your ability to access your account in advance of the notification date. If you don’t remember your log-in credentials, don’t worry! You’ll find helpful information about accessing ACData at our “FAQ for Current Applicants” webpage: https://www.amherst.edu/admission/applicants/faq. If, after reviewing that information, you have additional questions about your ACData portal access, please contact our office at admission@amherst.edu .

Sincerely,

The Amherst College Office of Admission
