I heard Amherst was a great school for Neuroscience… is this true??

Yes it is. It is difficult, however, for neuroscience students to get their first choice advisors/labs for their theses because it is, along with biology, a popular major choice for pre-med students. So if you want to write a thesis with your choice of professor, make sure you form a good relationship with someone in the dept. It is somewhat of an interdisciplinary dept. so you will have profs from bio, chem and psych teaching some of your classes. It is definitely considered one of the strongest depts. on campus.
