Amherst Transfer Applicant

I am planning to apply to Amherst for the Spring 2015 semester, in which I will be in junior standing. I lack a HS diploma; I have a GED. Currently enrolled in a community college where my GPA is currently 3.953. Here are my stats:

Borough of Manhattan Community College
GPA- 3.95
Intended Major- Political Science with a focus in International Relations
Currently have 53 credits completed, and will have completed 68 credits when the time comes to transfer
Strong Essays
Strong recommendations- one from my political science professor who is an Amherst graduate, one from my Italian professor who attended Smith (one of the Five Colleges), and my Econ professor is writing me one as well.
Member of Phi Theta Kappa
Dean's List recipient
Extracurriculars- Volunteered in soup kitchens while on vacation, and visited the sick and elderly in hospitals.

I think you have as good a shot as anybody if you can sell your story to the admissions office. The alumni recommendation should help distinguish you.

What do I know though? I’m just a prospective Fall 2015 transfer, not a professional counselor.

Best of luck.
