What does the office of admissions focus on? Does it make a difference to show act/sat scores in the application? Is it recommended to have an interview, if so, any advice on it? Thanks!

Holy Cross is Test optional–but if you score higher than the median for either ACT or SAT, you should send them in. Go for it on the SAT-IIs also. And you really should go interview. It would make a big difference. just my 2-cents.

Because we are test-optional, we put a much larger focus on your high school transcript. We like to see that you have challenged yourself within your school’s curriculum and have achieved at a high level, generally an A- average. That being said, we do look at you as an entire applicant, meaning we pay close attention to the essay you write, the extracurriculars you do, and the recommendations others write about you.

We also do highly encourage the interview, and take note of any contact you have with us – be that a campus tour, a high school visit, a Fall Open House, a Day Visit, or an Online Chat.

What does Holy Cross look for in an applicant for a Theater major? Is the focus more on their theater experience? Is an audition required?

We are not major sensitive in our application process, so we do not look for anything specific to your intended major. Many students interested in the theatre major will choose to submit a supplement, which you can do through SlideRoom. Create an account at holycross.slideroom.com and upload a clip there, if you wish.
