Hi everybody,
Currently, I am an 8th grader and looking forward to High school. I was wondering what grade you guys are in, what courses/classes/program you are in, and how many hours of homework you get nightly on average. (Can you tell me what high school/college you currently go to? If it's not too personal.)
Thanks so much!

I attend Bayside High School in Queens, NY.

Workload/Homework is alot so you are expected to prepare yourself for College.

It really depends on which classes you take. 9th grade is a breeze. 10th grade comes around and totally sucks because you’re not used to the amount of work.

I would estimate something like this:

AP Classes = 45 minutes a night
Honors classes = 25 minutes a night
Regular classes = 15 minutes a night

In freshman year, I had around one hour to two hours a night.

As a sophomore, I have over 3.5 hours, but I BS my way out of it.

As long as you don’t procrastinate like me, you should be fine.

I’d say each class Freshman year is about 15 mins a night, but you don’t get HW in every class. It’s generally a transition period, so you will still get middle-school-like homework. Sophomore year, I began getting 25 mins a night (* 7 classes, usually only had nightly homework in 3, every once in a while in the others), and this year, Jr, with 6 classes, I usually can expect 30 mins a night (except not in a class like Spanish) with usually 4 classes a night, plus studying.

Honors and AP classes. It’s really not that bad.

My Freshman year was about two to three hours of homework a night, my Sophomore year was under one hour of homework a night, and my Junior year now varies from one through four hours each day. (four hours days before tests)

Edit: It doesn’t feel like it has been much more homework than I had in middle school however it varies from school to school.

Wow, my hw schedule is much different. For spanish i hardly get any, maby vocab once a week. AP comp science, weekly 5 question quiz. AP Chem, do all the hw the night before the test. I count it as studying; it takes me about 3 hours. Math i only do if i dont understand the topic, she doesnt check. US i have to do, it gets graded, but it only takes my 30 mins at max. English i get nothing almost everyday. Surprisingly i take all honors with those APs; i might be in a rude awaking when i get to college.

My freshman year was the worst. It seems that the homework load gets less every year. I remember spending more time on homework in middle school than i do know

Today I have six hours. Not even halfway done.

I don’t know why I have so much today…

Senior here with two AP classes. Don’t get much homework usually. Tonight I just have to study for calc and physics tests tomorrow.
