Hi. I can't decide whether or not I want to take two AP classes next year (APUSH/AP Lang). I have many ECs and may not have time to study for both classes. I want to know if getting an A in one AP class is better than getting Bs in two AP classes. Thanks in advance for replying.

Bs in two AP classes. Bs are still very good grades and, assuming you’ll be a junior, you’re definitely going to want two AP classes over only one.

The typical answer is: A’s in both AP’s. However, people also recommend taking as many AP’s as possible while still maintaining A’s (which in your case might only be one). The fact is that hundreds upon hundreds of students will have A’s in those two AP subjects (whether they deserve them or not) and your B will put you at a significant disadvantage compared to them, regardless of who is smarter/deserves it more. So if you’re certain your fate will be either of your two predictions, I’d say stick with one class.

In my opinion, the exam score matters more.

Optimally, you should be taking as many AP classes as you can while still being able to score a 5 on each. If you can take the two AP classes and get a 5, go for it, dude. If you feel if by taking both, you limit yourself to only getting 3s or 4s, I’d say stick to one AP class.

I agree with Rob1995, the exam score does matter much more. Try to prepare over the summer so you can lighten your load for the school year. Plus Junior year you should take as many APs as possible.

Ok don’t freak out cause you don’t even study for AP eng lang, it all depends on how well you write. The only thing you MIGHT have to study for are literary terms that your school tests over, if they do like mine. And getting a high B in an AP class is better than a 90-92 in an honors or regs class so you’ll do fine.

I took both and got a B+ and an A, and I’m not as good as the average CC student. I think you’ll be fine.
