I'm not sure if the summer between 11th and 12th grade counts as 11th or as 12th. Which is correct?

Almost all students consider the summer after a schoolyear to be the next schoolyear (i.e., once you go on summer break after freshman year you are no longer a “freshman”), so you are a 12th grader the summer before your 12th grade year.

^ That is not how I did it lol. Activities from this past summer (I’m a senior now) went under 11th grade.

Technically, your school starts Fall Session in September, then there is Winter or/and Spring session, and the school ends in June, it then starts summer break. That is your whole school year! So, your activities in past summer should be part of your 11th grade for your 12th grade was not started yet.

I would say most people consider you to be a 12th grader the day you finish 11th grade, so I would say to put them under 12th grade. That said, I don’t think it really matters.

Pick one way, and be consistent. Shame on them for not making it more obvious, because it doesn’t help them distinguish either!

C’mon guys, considering the summer after 11th grade to be 11th grade is basically an excuse for making it seem like you’ve been doing your EC for a year longer.

Generally, the summer after 11th grade is considered to be the 12th grade. I once had this conversation with a school counselor. She told me that as soon as the school year is over, you have “graduated” to the next grade.

It doesn’t matter.
