From class 2015
"All of the admitted students are well-qualified for success at Rochester, with an average GPA of 3.94 and average test scores in the 95th percentile among all college-bound students."

Is GPA 3.95 a W or UW? Is it of 4 or 5? Is it for core courses or all HS courses? It looks like UR only admit All A's students? Do you recalculate HS GPA? Thanks.

The 3.94 represents an average of all of the weighted averages of admitted students that the high school guidance counselors sent us.

The unweighted average of these same students that the U of R Admissions Counselors recalculated (ignoring classes like Wood Shop, Drivers Ed, etc.) was 3.77

3.77 is the statistic to focus on, because all schools weight their averages differently.

Every school recalculates gpa’s. Some apply factors based on their view of the quality of the high school. Some only look at core classes. Public schools follow state laws that govern how to recalculate grades for admission and which classes to count.

How many undergraduate colleges in UR ? How many students in each college?

Does UR have Honor college/Honor program? How many students were selected each year? how many curses just for honor students? do all the honor students live together?

I heard something about UR merit-base scholarship, Is anything available for OOS,NMF and IB diploma students?

There are three undergraduate colleges at UR - College of Arts & Sciences, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and Eastman Conservatory’s undergraduate program.

There is no Honors College separate from the others; Rochester is itself an “honors college.” Many majors have honors programs within them; their acceptance rates and requirements vary. (Public universities tend to have “honors colleges.” University of Rochester, despite its name, is not part of the State University of New York system. It is a private college.)

As a private college, “OOS” is irrelevant to UR. NMF finalists receive automatic merit scholarships.

@Chedva, Thank you for speedy response.
"Rochester is itself an “honors college” - I like it:)
It looks like no additional application forms required for most of the merit scholarships.
