<p>Most community colleges have some sort of auto-technician program. You don't really need a degree to work on cars, you just need to get various certifications. Apply at one of those Quickie Lube type 10 minute oil change places to get some on the job training, then go from there. This line of work is exploding, and much money is to be made.</p>
