An essay problem

Guys i have been stuck with essay for about 5 sat trials,,,,,,every time i get a 9. Any suggestions to get a 11+?

Play to what they (the test graders) are looking for. Use good, strong examples, and make sure you grab the readers early in the introduction. I know it sounds like a lot for only ~25 minutes of writing time, but its possible.

Fill up all the lines! It seems unnecessary, but the length of your essay does count.

Make sure you answer the question. Don’t blabber on about some unrelated topic. Get to the point quickly, and make your thesis strong and obvious.

I got 12/12 on the essay both times I took the SATs, and on one of the essays I actually made up an example about a “hypothetical” scientist :stuck_out_tongue: (I never got caught). If you panic and can’t think of an example, you can risk it and try to pull off a made-up example (personal ones work the best).

Showing off some good vocabulary doesn’t hurt either. Good luck!

Remember that on the SAT Essay, the superficial things matter a lot. Over two and a half million students take the SAT every year. There’s no way the CollegeBoard people can read all those essays thoroughly and determine weather you’re a good writer or not. They have to rely on certain cues to determine what score you deserve.

If you’re getting a score of 9 pretty consistently, you probably have a good grasp of the basic 4 or 5 paragraph essay and at least an average writing ability (whatever that means). Now you need to determine what improvements you can make to your writing that separates you from an average student (or at least make it seem that way).

If you need more advice, check out this article: [How to Write the Perfect 12-Point SAT Essay](http://satninja.com/sat-writing/the-essay/how-to-write-the-perfect-12-point-sat-essay-even-if-you-suck-at-writing-part-1</a>).

All you need to do is fill the two pages completely and use lots of big words.

MAKE UP EXAMPLES.

This is the golden rule. Make up examples that fit perfectly. I finally got a 12… haha I’ve gotten two 11s on the ACT so this was my first 12 and thats exactly what I did = )
