i want to major in international relations and then go on to medical school. my ultimate goal is to become a physician that serves the "forgotten" around the world. i love both medicine and world affairs. i thought this would be a good combo.

but is this a stable decision...i.e are there are job opportunities? i looked online and i am hardly finding anything about this career path

It should be a fine combination as long as you aren’t looking to make a lot of money.

“Stable” I guess I’m not quite sure what you mean, but with 3-4B people in relatively or massively medically underserved areas I don;t think you’ll be lacking for people who need help. Doctors Without Borders, Peace Corps, and any number of other agencies are always looking for help.

OTOH, negotiating the Political, Social, and Economic Barriers to actually get the help to the people who need it may be something the IR degree may prepare you for whether you’re on the front line or on the admin/logistics side. These barriers are enormously unstable and difficult to get around, but there are people who spend their life and soul to attempt it.

thank you so much!
this really helped
