"Today while I was testing for the SATs my proctor accused me of cheating - I was taking subject tests and employ different methods for each one; it looked like I had not been on the section I was on at all, apparently(didn't circle stuff in, just filled in bubbles). She did not kick me out and had me continue the test, but would my scores get canceled by collegeboard anyway? Do you think the proctor would notify the CB after the test was finished and get everything canceled?"

My friend asked me to post this because he knows I've been reading CC, and doesn't want to sign up for the forums himself. (I took the SAT II tests, and am not saying this just because I don't want to be subjected to accusations of cheating.)

I was taking subject tests and employ different methods for each one; it looked like I had not been on the section I was on at all, apparently(didn’t circle stuff in, just filled in bubbles).

What does that mean? does that mean that he was working on the wrong section of the test? Does that mean that he was bubbling in on the wrong section?

What does “didn’t circle stuff in” mean?

What he told me was that he was doing the reading section and filled in a bunch of bubbles without circling his answer on the booklet. The proctor thought he was skipping ahead or something.
He’s confused because he was accused of cheating but the proctor told him to continue, so he’s not sure if whoever was watching will report to CB and create problems for college apps and his transcript

Did she use the word, “cheating”?

he was doing the reading section and filled in a bunch of bubbles without circling his answer on the booklet.

so, were bubbles filled in for sections that he wasn’t supposed to be at yet?

I’m confused, but are you required to circle on the test booklet?

No you’re not. I don’t think that the scorers even look at your test booklet; they even emphasize how they ONLY score what is bubbled in on the Scantron and if you only circle on the test booklet or put different answers in each one for some stupid reason you will get a bad score.

I really don’t get what is going on in this situation. Was your friend bubbling in for the section that he was supposed to be on or not. The fact that he was or wasn’t writing in the test booklet is irrelevant; you don’t have to do anything inside of the test booklet for the multiple choice on any SAT.

I don’t think we’re getting the whole story here.

I was taking subject tests and employ different methods for each one;

How does one, “employ different methods for each one”???

How many methods are there? You read the question, you bubble in your answer. If you need to skip a question in a section, you can go back to it during that same time period.

Oh, I’ve only been on CC a short time but I’m quite used to that by now. We’re lucky that we even got the name of the test!
