Hi all,

I have begun my research for the SAT and was wondering whether or not using an old disney cartoon as an example is too farfetched or too babyish? What do you we think?

Cheers

hi strategicfiasco,

I’ve heard that essay graders love to here something out of the ordinary - but i think you’re risking it with a disney example. you’re right in thinking that its too farfetched.

I guess you could use it if you have absolutely nothing else to write but I wouldn’t otherwise

Good luck !

I bet they’d like it more than an essay about Martin Luther King Jr and Gandhi.

I think a lot of it has to do with how you use the Disney cartoon to support your thesis. If it’s a prompt about influence of media or whether kids are too easily swayed or something like that, then I think Disney cartoons are a great example to show how they portray gender roles and how that influences children. But if you’re trying to explain how the main character shows leadership, courage, or originality through his/her actions, then maybe it can be perceived as childish.

Thanks guys, yea I felt that it was unorthodox (not MLK etc) but to describe a cartoon as a leader seemed flimsy. I’ll use the research for other questions- but thanks for confirming my thoughts
