An Open Letter to Chandler -- Cornell v. Williams

The language department strength is definitely a factor… is it true tha Williams has a shoddy one compared to Cornell’s?

But isn’t it true that if you’re a Human Ecology student, you cannot major/minor/concentrate outside of HumEc? Or is that just a myth?

A complete myth. Where did you hear that? As an ILR student I concentrated/minored in economics and inequality studies (and almost had a third concentration in international relations).

Minors

You would definitely be able to minor in Spanish and East Asian studies.

Or law and society. Or information science. Or entomology. Or education. Or applied economics. Or international relations. Or you get the idea.

Haha, I get the idea.

It looks like visitation days are going to be the deciding factor for me.
No pressure, right?

Well, not a complete myth, Chandler. You can’t major across any colleges except for a few select programs between Arts, Engineering, and AAP (I think.) Cayuga’s dead on about the minors, though.

Touche. Minors. Not majors.

But it doesn’t really make much of a difference when it comes to grad school/employers. What matters much more are the classes you take. I know a girl from ILR who ended up getting her PhD at Stanford in English. Needless to say, she didn’t major/minor/concentrate in English.

kat and Cayuga: Thank you! I didn’t know that before, and that definitely helps Cornell. I seriously don’t think I’ll be able to make a smart decision by May 1st. I mean, I’ll be at Cornell on the 17th and Williams on the 20th/morning of 21st. After that, I have less than 10 days to decide where I’ll be for four years of my life.
I think I might be getting nostalgia for waiting for admissions decisions. Okay, maybe not. At all.

Chandler

The answer to this question will be very telling:

Does the Williams section of this site have an entire (really long) thread dedicated just to you?

Ha, SVMMom, I was going to say that, too!

Oh SVMMom/pageturner, you two are too clever for me!

This thread is actually the best thing ever, and I assure you that I have been thinking about Cornell vs. Williams every waking moment of every day!

HOWEVER, spring break starts tomorrow and I’m so pumped because I’m thoroughly fed up with HS.
Cornell on the 17th!!!
I’m quite excited :)

Join the dark si-- I mean come to Williams, they have Tutorials. AND cookies.

haha sorry, I just randomly checked the Cornell board and saw that there was a very long thread dedicated to you. XP ehh I guess everything comes down to the visit; it’s like that for me too. I’m just waiting for the moment when I step on X school’s campus, take a class, and then have this divine indication telling me “THIS IS THE SCHOOL FOR YOU!!!”

…at least, that’s what I hope. :p

hahaha, limetime finally found the ChandlerBing thread :P

It’s pretty intense/awesome, isn’t it??
It’s making my job of deciding between the two schools way harder (in a good way) and the visits will be very important.

The divine indication would be pretty sweet, but it’s probably not going to happen

one can always hope
Oh, and just a warning, you MAY be flamed by Cornellians for supporting Williams.
Just saying ;)

awwwww don’t crush my dreams about that divine intervention. :frowning: I’ll just hope and pray really hard, 'kay?

hahaha that’s okay, I can take their flames and raise them to a California-sized mountain fire.

…strange mood I am in today…

anyways good luck to both of us during this choosing process; we’ll need it. ;)

Haha, I hope it’ll come to me too!
I’m so excited for visitation days, you don’t even know.

Ooooh, well maybe not California, since Pomona’s there and you’re DEFINITELY (emphasis on the definitely) NOT going to Pomona.
:)

We will, it’ll be tough on both of us.

In the meanwhile, Cornell alumni silently stare from the background, expressionless and with arms folded, waiting for Chandler and Limetime to finish their ode to Williams.

Totally kidding! Please carry on.

Heck Chandler. You’re making friends wherever you go.

More like an ode to Willell. That would be so awesome, to go to Williams and Cornell at the same time!

Psh, hopefully it’ll stay that way in college!

The more I agonize over this decision, the more I realize that it’s really, really impossible.
If only the Red Cow was a mascot…

hey bing what major are you doing?

Haha ChandlerBing, you know you’re awesome don’t you? :D

ResurgamBell: At Cornell I was accepted to the Human Bio, Health, and Society major at HumEc.
At Williams I would probably do some sort of combination of Bio, Spanish, and Chinese?

Ehh, I think you’re awesomer, since you’re not even done with junior year and already writing amazing essays…

chandlerbing, you make me smile  (much like the tv character)

Good luck deciding… I really hope to see you on Cornell’s campus next fall though

Aww, thanks!
As you can see, I have today off and am therefore looking at websites related to both colleges (and CC, of course :))
Yes!!! I love the tv character, he was beyond awesome.

I’ll be at Cornell next Friday, hope the weather’s good.
