Analytical/Inorganic Chemistry and Labs

Has anyone taken Analytical Chemistry or Inorganic Chemistry and their respective lab classes? How were they? How do they compare to organic chemistry?

Hello, did you take Organic Chemistry II at UF? If so, how was it? Any professor recommendations?

Ochem II:
I had Deyrup- her class is totally doable. She has quizzes throughout the semester, about 3-4 exams and a final. You are exempt from the final if you have a “A” by that time. If you improve after every exam, you get bonus points (she basically gets the difference between the last exam and the most recent exam and halves the points.) She gives you the option of being a part of a study group and this gives you the opportunity to get bonus group points.
Good thing is you are guaranteed at least a “C” because if you pass her final with a certain number of points you get a “C” (even if you were failing prior to that.)

I also had Deyrup for Orgo 2 and I would highly recommend her. She is a really good teacher and actually wants you to do well. She has plenty of office hours and is always willing to help.

Hey FloridaGator3,
I’m also taking Analytical Chem in the fall with Harrison. I’ve heard that this class really isn’t that bad - two separate people have described it to me as “Chem 2 made a little more complicated.”
From what I’ve heard, the lab is either made or broken by your TA. Apparently you get graded on your % yield and stuff like that that didn’t really matter in Organic/General labs.

As for inorganic, everyone says that Dr. Scott (the professor who usually teaches it) is really fun, but I’ve heard rumors that he’s not around anymore, so I have no idea.
