And Now We Wait...

I sent in my app a few weeks ago, and the wait is killing me. I have to fight myself not to check bannerweb every 3 minutes! There won't be anything there yet, I know (: How's everyone else doing?

The waiting is excruciating. Which is why Wellesley will always have a small warm part in my heart for it’s early “tip” letter.

But in return, verily I say unto you, much of what seems of monumental importance now will have vanished far into the rear view mirror in not more than nine months. No…I didn’t accept the notion and relax either.

Haha, I know! It’s just weird that there’s nothing more i can do!!!

I sent in my RD application a few weeks ago, so I have a looong time to wait haha. I’m going for my interview in a few weeks and it’ll be my third time visiting Smith, which I look forward to.

good luck
I’ll know on 12/15
AHHH
is smith ur top choice?

oh and def don’t stress too much about the interview…mine was extremely smooth…to the point that I enjoyed it even tho i was stressed

I’m not nervous about the interview at all actually. I love interviews!
I refuse to have a top choice so I won’t be disappointed, but I’ve pretty much been walking Smith propaganda since my overnight.

hahaha @ walking smith propaganda
You’ve got a good attitude pick up sticks. As someone who is applying to smith for a second time as a transfer student (waitlisted in high school), I would definitely advise not becoming too attached to any school. If you think you could be annoying your friends talking everyones ears off about Smith now, wait to see what people think of you after you’ve been doing it for two years like me x)
Hopefully I will redeem myself by getting in this time otherwise I’ll never hear the end of it.

Okay, did everyone get their Bannerweb accounts? And via e-mail or snail mail? Any internationals got theirs?

The really excruciating wait is after/if you get in ED, and then you realize you still have months and months to go before you can start.

Good luck everybody!

Good luck pick up sticks
and bear garden!

My D had enough trouble waiting after RD. After a week after she decided to attend Smith, she blurted out, “I just want to be there – NOW.”

Add me to the list…although Part II of my app isn’t due until 02/09/10, I’m working on trying to finish everything before Holiday Break, and requesting and having transcripts sent starting after the New Year.

The prospect of the interview doesn’t make me nervous, its just the idea of actually applying (and following through with it) and the prospect of being rejected that make me nervous.

Does anyone know when we’ll start hearing back?

My daughter did ED and was happy when she heard but then the long wait gave her time for second thoughts about the all women’s thing and seeing other people make choices (although for some that was torture and she was glad to pass) so for your RD people there is a plus side in hearing later. She is by the way loving Smith despite her second guessing over the Spring and Summer.

I was just searching through Bannerweb and under my financial aid info, it says “Expected enrollment: full time” and has the amounts of my federal loans.

Does this show up for everyone or am I getting my hopes up too early?

It might be good news – but don’t count on it just yet. The year my D was accepted (2006), many people who received scholarships could see them prior to the official acceptance; unfortunately, one saw a hefty financial award on her account and read into it that she was accepted. She celebrated. Unfortunately, she later discovered that she was rejected.

Back doors appear magical because they are often mere illusions.

Yeah, I wouldn’t read too much into it. You are expected to be a full time student, if you are accepted, and the amount of your federal loans could have just been entered for reference.

I should add that, for one school, my D had received in the mail “confirmation” of her Stafford loans – and it turned out that she was waitlisted, not accepted.

Ladies, as hard as it is, stop poking around the website, trying to glean some hopeful sign. You’re making yourselves crazy. Do something else–go for a walk, dive into some interesting club at school, DO YOUR HOMEWORK, read a book, do an errand for your parents, do some community service–anything to get yourselves out and about and away from the Smith website! Time will pass–I can truly promise that–time has a way of marching on whether we want it to or not. That’s it. Now I’ll get off my soapbox! :)

I get what you guys are saying…thanks for the advice. I just really wanted to know if that’s showing up for anyone else who’s applied?
