And so the hardest part begins...

Of course the hardest part out of the whole admissions process is the waiting. I don't think I can take much more and it's only been one day since I submitted everything! Just wanted to start this thread as a place for people to put their feelings of relief, anticipation, or whatever else and discuss with others.

the essays are harder imo

I think I’ve already rambled off in other posts about how high-strung I am right now. Seriously, if my parents knew earlier that the only thing I needed to get on a sugar rush was an application process, they would have quit buying me so many Nerds, Yorks, and Butterfingers :D

GoldenRatio I completely understand what you mean about the rush. Two nights ago I was quadruple checking my essays to make sure they sounded how I wanted them to. It wasn’t until after I submitted them that I realized that the process is pretty much over except for decisions.
Sundlun I don’t know what the essays were like last year, but I do agree that the essays were hard as they were asking you to provide them with a variety of different things. For example I saw that St.Paul was requiring me to provide them with my passions while Hill was requiring me to provide them with my intentions for applying to the school and my goals if I was accepted.

I’m still getting used to it.
Meanwhile, if I do get in, I’m thinking of what I’ll say when I go-- (planning ahead always works.)
You know, like, “School has given Spaceneedlesevie and application letter! Spaceneedleesevie is FREEEE!”

@confusedonhades: Haha, at least you managed to have time to check! I joined the rush a month or so ago, and life was picking up in business at the same time…didn’t get to check; my essays are trite, superfluous, and downright stupid. :stuck_out_tongue: Ah well!

@spaceneedlesevie: Got a speech all prepared now, no?

Only kidding - the waiting probably is the most difficult

@GoldenRatio you must’ve been pretty busy then,but you should be proud! Some people start their applications way before you did and still didn’t finish them on time from what I understand.
@spaceneedlesevie you’ve just given me a very good idea…haha
@sundlun sorry for missing the joke! The application season has my brain fried lol

Why didn’t he just choose one of the other prompts? They gave five prompts to choose from. IMO that beats just having to write an essay on the topic they choose, with no choices given to you.

I’m relieved it’s over. I did all the apps, interviews, essays, testing, and requested teacher recs all in the last 35 days. I gave my teacher recs to them on Dec 12 and started my essays Dec 22 after finals. I just got my test results back, 86%. I’m happy with that. I came home from school today and took a 3 hour nap. It was the best nap I had in weeks.

@bshopeful2013
Who are you referring to? I completely understand what you mean about the nap. I’ve been falling asleep much easier now that everything is turned in.

@bshopefule2013: Haha, that sounds exactly like me on my search! A frenzy of getting apps, essays, questions answered…a 85+ percentile (I got a ~95)…so glad it’s over. I swear my sickness over winter break was due to the choas :wink: It lost me a week, though.

@GoldenRatio i love your quote

This is how I feel to a T!

I applied to 14 schools doing only 4 on a common application (gateway). I submitted them all on Monday the 14th. On Tuesday evening while going over everyones websites checking every thing was in i noticed it. I thought I was all done and I saw I never finished editing my video submission for Hotchkiss it was not submitted UGH!!!

I jumped on iMovie at 945pm and at 11:30 pm I uploaded my video to YouTube. Went to the web site and posted the link and noticed I was 37sec over their 3 min maximum limit for videos. Not enough time to re edit so i just posted the link and I am hoping for the best.

I waited till the end to submit all my essays because I wanted to make sure everything was perfect on all of them.

It felt like the weight of the world was lifted from my shoulders once the applications were in but the waiting is a whole different torture

^ Nice to know I’m not the only once bouncing around :wink: O-oh, I’m not even going to go into the depth of my mistakes with Hotchkiss’s app. I applied to three (using, Gateway, SSAT, and GoChoate!-go figure they’d be different!) Hotchkiss was the first, and boy did I fumble badly. I accidentally put my parent’s job in for the Company Address, went over the word limit on a short answer, and completely botched another short answer o.0 I also didn’t realize any of this until yesterday! Guess I can’t change anything now >.<

The wait-how blissful if sounds, a delicate curve of the lips-but oh! How deceptive they are! Ruby red lips glisten not with gloss, but blood…

A way to kill time while waiting for 10-March:

@GMTPlus7 I love it thanks for giving me something to do to pass the time

bump…

So, now that its down to 19 days, hows everyone coping?

More excited than ever now. I had to get a countdown app just for M9

Me too! Good to know I’m not the only one.
