Andover admissions...

Im confused. I got an email saying I will be notified via Gateway. But posts here talk about fed exed packages?

fedex if you get accepted on m10 and the gateway for decisions online.

Whats the difference? Rejections online?

Everyone gets their decision online, whether it’s an acception, rejection, or waitlist. In addition, accepted students receive a packet via FedEx, UPS, or similar service.

Accepted students get a FedEx expedited to their home on March 10 while rejected/waitlisted students get their letter with USPS on a regular timeframe (snail mail).

I guess it’s just that schools like sending out acceptance letters because they have the forms and stuff like that. Online just helps getting your decision faster.

Thanks @GoatMama!! it seems bizarre that acceptances were fed exes and rejections were online. I’ll find out with the east coast on 3/10

As @snapchat correctly states, all decisions are available online. Hardcopies are sent via FedEx for acceptances, and by USPS for rejections/waitlists.

@skieurope Thanks. It was the initial answer that spoke to both fed ex and online that threw me off.

For most colleges these days, you log in with your username and pw and get a letter. Some have cool virtual extras like confetti. I wonder if someday a BS like Andover might save a few bucks and have a virtual fed ex appear on the portal driving to the recipients house. It would save some money. You don’t need fed ex. A few graphics could achieve the same thing.

@preppedparent I mean, Andover has enough money to send FedEx’s to their accepted students. The endowment rivals some prestigious colleges. Although I do get the efficiency of a ‘virtual extra’, it’s just fun receiving a box at your front door telling ‘you got in!’. Plus, Andover accepts, what, 400 students a year? With their endowment of 1 billion, they can definitely afford it and from the looks of it, they aren’t afraid of using it.

You don’t need fed ex. Besides the money, it’s the waste of a box. Let’s save some trees and be earth friendly.

FedEx packages are 92% recycled content, but it does have a big carbon footprint for the one day expedited shipping.
