Andover/Choate/Exeter interview questions??

Hi,
I was wondering what questions are typically asked at Phillips Academy, Choate, and Phillips Exeter interviews! Hopefully some people who were interviewed will answer! Anything that someone know would be great1 Thanks!

I did an interview for PEA almost three years ago; I think the answer is that there are some questions that you will almost certainly be asked, but a lot depends on how the interview proceeds in any individual case. The obvious thing is “Why do you want to go to x school?” and there will probably be some extensions of that or other versions, like what makes the school stand out to you among the others to which you are applying, what you hope to gain from the school, what you think you could contribute to the community, etc. (Specifically, I remember that my interviewer asked me what I would be giving up by not continuing in my k-12 school system and why it was worth it to me to give those things up.) You’ll probably spend a fair amount of time discussing the things that you do or care about - if you like books, what you last read/are currently reading/your favorites, if you’re a musician, why that matters to you, if you do some form advocacy, why you started/what the appeal is. You may talk about your goals, dreams, or plans, and how the school would both help you achieve those and benefit from having you working on those things at that school etc. You may talk about your values or what you want to change in the world. If the school has some unusual or special pedagogy or offering (like Harkness), expect to talk about why that appeals to you. The interview is a conversation, so to some extent, it will go where it will go. Also remember that the interview can be a great time for you to ask questions about the school, and it can be a good way to get a better sense of the school’s offerings, values, and culture than can necessarily be gleaned from the website. That said, do your homework: read up on the school, assess whether it’s truly a place you want to be before applying, and don’t ask questions that indicate that you haven’t done thorough research.
This is based on my experience with one interview at PEA. However, I think this advice is probably pretty generally applicable - in other words, an interview at PEA, PAA, or Choate is probably not all that different from an interview at any other boarding school you may be applying to.

@Ravenclaw3 Thank you for taking the time to respond! These seem like great tips!
