Hi, I had an interview this past Saturday with an alumni. He only asked me questions about my academics and extracurriculars and that was about it. I suppose it lasted around 10 minutes, then he went to my parents and told them how I would supposedly be a good fit for the school. I’m worried that because my interview was that short, I didn’t make a good impression. Also, he did have people coming in before me and I was one of the last people he had, so I’m not sure if it was short for people he did too.
There is nothing you can do about it now so stop worrying. Alumni interviews are not the same as admissions staff interviews and it is unlikely that a short interview with an alumnus means much.
Good luck with all your admissions!
The length of an interview with any type of interview/er (on-campus, off-campus, AO, AD, alumnus) means nothing. Read nothing into this and let it go. You’ve checked the necessary box.
Appears that the interviewer scheduled too many interviews for that day.
Usually alumni interviewers give the applicant a chance to ask questions about the school. This didn’t happen in your case.
In fact, the primary purpose of these interviews is to allow the applicant to ask the questions as the school already knows about your academics & extracurriculars from your application.
Hopefully, the interview location was close to your home.
Should not affect your chances of admission.
