A question: if you're a boarding student, will your advisor most likely be living in your dorm?

Depends if you’re a freshman or if you’re a lower, upper, senior, or pg. all dorm parents are advisors for the kids in their dorm. If you’re in the other grades, then your advisor may or may not be in your dorm however you will most likely have the same advisor as a group of people in tiur dorm

Yay! If my advisor is the house counselor of a dorm I really want to live in, can I safely assume that I got the dorm? (I’m going into ninth grade.)

Pretty much yeah. It’s unlikely they gave you an advisor who is a house counselor somewhere else. Congratulations

what about for new lowers? is the same true?

most likely, yes

^^^ehhh false. only if you are in a new lower dorm, then you can be assured (For guys, Bertha Bailey house is one, and I think newman house as well. For girls, idk).

Just throwing it out there that when I came as a new lower, my academic advisor was NOT my house counselor. All of the new lowers in my dorm had the same advisor though. You also have the option of changing your advisor next year if you find the pairing isn’t a good fit.
