andover?

will they check my 7th grade grades?if i apply in 8th grade to go for 9th? and what will they be looking for?

They only check your most recent grades. They also look for teacher/coach/alumni/etc. reconmondations, essays (done online), awards, ssat/isee/psat/sat scores, and extracurriculars. If you browse on the thread more, you will see the term “hook” being used a lot. This is an aspect of your application that defines you and separates you from the rest of the applicant pool. Example is mine was being an identical twin and being a state record holder swimmer. The admisaions officers basically look for ways YOU can contribute to the school’s growth, if you can benifit and grow from an andover experience, and if you are generally a nice person. The people who excel the most in those three categories are most likely to be accepted, with the exception of legasies (don’t know how to spell that word lol!). This is all coming from my experience with the application process this year. If you have any more questions, pm me about it.

Good luck with your applications!

I do believe they request grades all the way back to 6th grade, if possible. I applied for 11th grade and still had to submit all my grades from 6th grade-current.

Wow that’s a lot of scrutiny, congrats on making it through a grueling process.

Piccalacha: really? They asked for your grades from 6th grade?? I wouldn’t think it would be right to nas someone’s acceptanve on the years prior to you applying to the achool unless they want to see how much you’ve grown…

some are asking for at least 2 years of past grades

I second that^. We sent 6th, 7th and 8th grade transcripts.

should i just send all 6/7 of it? is that require

Ask the admission’s officers at Andover or any other schools you’re applying to – it varies.

The “School Report” form usually specifies what should be sent.

My guidence counselor said that she’d send out my transcript…maybe she meant all 3 years at middle school??? I’m pretty sure it was only my 8th grade transcript though.

I wouldn’t stress over the grades in yhe years past. If you did bad in those years, but then up the bar for your current school year, then the AOs will see progress/change/how you’ve grown, which is always a good thing, and a great essay topic!!
