I just saw this message on My Andover: "All admission decisions will be mailed on Monday, March 10. With the exception of the international applicants, Phillips Academy does not give out on line admission decisions. If you have not received your admission decision in the mail by March 14, you may call the admission office for your decision." Does this mean that no one will recieve any decisions on the 10th or do you think that acceptances will arrive on the 10th like last year? Inquiring minds want to know!

If they're MAILED on the tenth them I'm guessing people in MA will get decisions on the 11th and New Englanders will get their letter on the 12th. Far away applicants will get their letter on the 13th at latest.

Thats just my theory :)

Only international applicants may receive a decision by or on March 10,2008. Domestic applicants should receive their mailed decisions on March 11, 12 or 13, 2008 according to your posted info. on this thread.

December '08?
Hmm. Thats dosn't sound quite right.

Last year Andover overnighted their decisions and people received them on the 10th.

" Last year Andover overnighted their decisions and people received them on the 10th."

That was last year. This year the stock market is tanking and Andover's $1 billion endowment is only worth $ 950million and they need to save $.

well, that's a HUGE monitary diffrence ;)

We have been following this for a few years with Andover and have had personal experience with their decisions. They always tell the students they mail their decisions on the 10th but lo and behold they arrive every year on the 10th (the good news that is). The economy is not well, but they are a school that isn't going to let a few bucks stand in the way of how they do things. Some things are done a certain way and it is their tradition. Traditions are very strong at these schools, and I would seriously doubt that they are going to do anything different this year than they have in the past.

When a school posts that they are "mailing on the 10th" that does not prevent them from sending some or all of their notifications earlier. Read it as "mailing BY the 10th." I would be surprised if some people do not hear on Monday or Tuesday.

I was surprised to hear that people received Lawrenceville decisions today. That is the first time I have heard of "ten schools" decisions being in the hands of students on the 8th. I think some other schools intentionally waited til today to mail to nearby students to make sure they would not hear until Monday.

I remember last year, I called NMH to ask about the date thing. They really beat around the bush about it. They just kept saying "They will be postmarked the 10th". But then they said there was a possibility I could receive it on the 10th if I lived close by. I feel like they somehow got them in the mail the evening of the 9th, but got the post office to postmark them the 10th (?after the p.o. closed on the 9th maybe....like the bank???)

Umm, it was a joke.
