Animal Biology vs Animal Science?

What is the difference? What careers do these lead into?

Thanks!

Animal Biology=Zoology
Animal Science is a an applied field of agricultural sciences focused on care and production of farm animals. Some animal science programs offer a track with less of a focus on applied aspects and more of a focus on basic sciences, e.g., microbiology, genetics, etc. Many pre-vet students major in animal science as a good alternative to a major in one of the basic bioscience fields, especially if they have an interest in large animal veterinary practice or to gain experience working with such animals (since experience with animals is an important consideration in vet school admissions). Animal science might be a good choice also if you have an interest in certain public health areas, e.g., animal-borne diseases, food biosecurity, etc. though these areas overlap with veterinary medicine. Some animal science majors can switch to other related areas for grad studies, e.g., food science.
