Animation Colleges for OOS students

Hey everyone! There are currently no good colleges for computer art/animation in my home state of Oklahoma. However,
all colleges offering animation degrees I’ve looked at are of course waay overpriced for OOS students. Does anyone know of affordable colleges with animation degrees offering tuition waivers to non-residents? Preferably a large college, but I know it’s not wise to be too picky.
p.s. One college I’ve heard of is Brigham Young University, but I’d prefer a less conservative environment. Thanks in advance for any help!

San Jose State has a great animation program (I was invited to attend, but declined). As a state school, I feel as though they may offer more aid, especially if you’re a high-achieving student. It’s also a more liberal environment and right in the heart of Silicon Valley, which gives you tons of opportunities.

Thanks! I’ll look into it.

San Jose State’s animation program does have a great reputation but with OOS tuition, OP would be looking at close to $40,000 /year COA.

Wow! I never even considered the OOS cost. For in-state, it’s about half that amount. It’s crazy what they’re charging students nowadays…

I emailed a neighbor whose son is going to San Jose State this fall to study animation and asked her what other schools her son had considered. She sent me this link and said her son’s top picks were on this list. I’m guessing that his picks were all California in-state but there are a lot of other schools mentioned that might be worth a look:

SUNY Purchase (new media/animation) is reasonably priced for OOS students.

Thank you all so much!
