Animation: RIT or RPI?

So, the college decision process has come to a standstill in which I’m constantly going back and forth between RIT and RPI. I’ve got all the pros and cons down and I still can’t seem to stay on one school for too long until changing my mind. Both schools are very similar but their differences seem to balance out. I could honestly see myself attending either school.

Regarding animation, which school would be a better fit for me? I know that both schools are known to have a great animation program, so the question is, which is better?

General opinions on the schools would be helpful as well!

DS and I looked at both programs.

RPI seemed to have very little in the art and drawing sections. In fact, I believe that the degree is a BS in Art or something like that. It seemed to be much more involved with the technology and computer science side of animation.

RIT had more of the art side of animation.

As a result, DS applied to RIT but did not apply to RPI. As a side note, he did attend RPI for 4 weeks doing 2D and 3D video game design. It his group, he was the artist, while the other groupmates did the programing of the game in Python or Unity.

So it would depend on where your interest lie.

Go to both websites and look up the courses required to graduate from the major for RPI and RIT. Then go to the course catalog in each college so that you can get the descriptions for the courses that are required for the major. Then figure out which one aligns closer to your interests. Good luck.
