Anna Karenina

Anybody read this? I'm a little more than halfway through and I'm feeling like it's taken a dramatic turn for the worse. As in, everything is really melodramatic and kind of like a Russian soap opera. Does it get less Lifetime Movie?

I read it last year. While it may seem a little dramatic now, I think things get better. I can’t remember the exact details in the middle, but the ending is a bit of a shock (I think). The drama with Anna and Vronsky will definitely cool down. By the end, Levin seems to be less…whiny I guess? Overall though, I quite enjoyed the book. I don’t think it is the best book I ever read, but it definitely got me into Russian lit. By the end, if you like it, you should read Dr. Zhivago. That book is simply amazing. However, if you’re not too hot on Russian lit, that’s cool. I hope that helps :)
