ANNpower 2017

I was really interested in the ANNpower vital voices application, but I can’t find the application anywhere. Does anyone have a link to it, or know where I can find it? Is anyone else applying this year? Hopefully this can be a place to discuss our applications xx

I emailed them and they said that the application would open in February, so it should be out soon.

It came out recently!

Where can I find this?

Anyone know when acceptances will be sent out?

Hi girls! I’m a 2016 Fellow, and I think I can help you out with any questions you have. I received my acceptance at the very end of April, so there’s still a lot of nerve-wracking waiting happening. I was in the first round of acceptances, so sometimes people get accepted even later than that because they’re on the wait list and someone else had to drop out. Good luck to you all!

I have a few questions. What is the acceptance rate for ANNpower? Describe the average girl at ANNpower. Do you believe your essays were strong or was it your recommendation letter? I submitted a video for ANNpower, will that give me a slight advantage even if it’s not good quality? (It’s okay if you can’t answer this last question, you probably don’t know he answer) and descibe your after all experience at ANNpower. Thanks, looking forward to your answer

Hi! I am also an applicant for this year’s cohort. I was wondering about your experiences with the essays. Do you think that the essays are the most important factor for determining the outcome of one’s application? Additionally, do you feel as if previous awards also played an important role in the admissions process? Thank you!

Hey girls! I’m not gonna lie, the program is super competitive. Last year, there were over 3500 applicants, so I think this might be the year where the acceptance rate drops below 1%. The average HERlead Fellow is incredibly passionate and very involved in her community, whether she has started a nonprofit or is in a million clubs. She tends to come from a more populated area or city (I’m the exception) and has solid grades. A video definitely shows your interest, and passion is what they are looking for, so the essays are ultimately a deciding point because they show the selection committee who you are. If you have been recognized for your service in the past, it is definitely extremely beneficial to mention that, but it is also okay if you are just starting out in the community service field-- I know I was! HERlead is a great experience. It changes your life, it opens your eyes, it gives you so many new friends, and it sends you back home with everything you need to make a difference. Good luck!

Thank you @figuringlifeout for answering my question

@figuringlifeout Wow, thank you so much for your detailed response! HERlead sounds amazing!

Does anyone know when they’re sending the emails of who got in?

@Fiepre I have no idea concerning the exact date but the website did say sometime in April. Considering today’s Friday and there’s one week left until April, I’m guessing that results will come very soon.

Thank you @absolutevalue, please tell the chat when you get an email from HERlead (whether rejection or acceptance) and I’ll do the same

So glad I found this thread! I, too, applied for HerLead and am anxiously awaiting a response. I know it’s exceptionally hard to get into, but the opportunity would be absolutely incredible! Good luck to everyone else who applied - I hope you guys receive great news (and hopefully soon…the wait is awful!). Is anyone interested in posting stats after decisions come out? Regardless of acceptance or rejection, it might be helpful for future applicants to have a rough idea of what they’re looking for.

@Fiepre Of course! I will be keeping my fingers crossed for good news to reach the both of us. @pinkfreud1 Haha, good luck to you too! And sure, I’m down to post my stats after results

Ahhh I’m super anxious to know decisions! I applied last year and unfortunately didn’t get in, but fingers crossed for this year!

@annie4564 Hopefully this is the year for you - best of luck! I’m only a sophomore, so I’ll at least have another year left to apply. Did you implement a project similar to what you proposed last year? Even if I don’t get accepted this year, it’s definitely given me inspiration as to what I can do about my topic!

Yes! Well, I kind of modified it, but it has the same overall mission of promoting education! Good luck to you too!

Hello all! I applied as well and have been checking my email constantly. Hopefully a response will arrive in the next few days. I’ll be sure to post my stats as well. Good luck to all of you!
