Another "am i good enough" thread

92 Weighted Average. 1890 SAT (planning on taking it again) Took AP US (4) and Euro (3). All honors. Taking AP Spanish, Bio, Gov, and Calc and doing decent. I did track Junior and Freshman year. Am in a couple of clubs and in the National Honor Society. I do peer tutoring and volunteer at a hospital.

Am i good enough for Binghamton or Geneseo?
And just for a reach, BU and NYU, are there any chances there?

What do you consider “decent”?

What clubs?

Have you shown an upward trend in grades since freshman year? Also, do you know your unweighted GPA?
your ECs don’t show any focus, but if you’re very involved in them that will help. Do you have any leadership positions? All that stuff makes a difference.
I dunno much about Geneseo or Binghamton, but I’d say you could probably get into BU. NYU would be a low reach.

@Daxlo5

Greater than 90. and im in 4 Clubs including Science Olympiads and VP for philosophy club.

@paperbackhead

I actually had a dip in junior year :frowning: but it wasn’t due to the rigor of my courses, i had to set my priorities and take care of my autistic brother…and he’s one hyper fellow. Its not an alarming dip, but i was in the Bs in math. I think my unweighted was…hmm…it was 89 ish just on the border of 90. and what do you mean by low reach? i don’t think i can raise my GPA any further, but if i were to get around a 2000 in the SATs (which i have gotten in diagnostics) will that help?
And is it safe to say Stony Brook is a safety, or Northeastern?

I’d mention you were taking care of your brother, if you have an opportunity to explain your grades without seeming to be making excuses.

college essay? lol

Northeastern and BU have identical SAT/ACT/GPA’s for their entering freshman classes. Both would be matches/high matches for you, definitely not safeties.

So …hmm
if i were to outline it

Safe:
SUNY Stony Brook
SUNY Buffalo
UConn?

Math/High Match:
Binghamton
Geneseo
Northeastern
BU
Ithaca

Reach:
NYU
