<p>In the 'State of Legal Residence of Parent, Spouse or Legal Guardian' subsection of the 'family data' step of the application, they ask for the date since your parent has been a resident of said state. </p>

<p>As the question and answer are both singular, which parent/date should I respond with?</p>

<p>I just assumed it was the parent who lived here the longest. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be.</p>

<p>Use the earlier date of residency. If your parents were born in California and have never lost residency then it would be the oldest parent.</p>
