Having all our guys back next year is irrelevant if we do not have a big man.

the lack of basketball knowledge that some of you possess (for a bunch of Dukies) is astounding

It's great that we're only losing one senior (unfortunately Nelson), but Majayiduke09 is right...we definitely need more post presence next year.

wolfpack...I used to think the same thing about ALL college athletes leaving college early (I know you just said some). Anyhow, I felt like they were alienating their team, the NCAA, and the fans as a whole.

However, I now believe if a college player knows he will get drafted to the NBA, NFL, or whatever professional league for the sport they respectively play, they should go. The main, and only really, reason I believe that is in basketball, and football especially, if you got hurt while playing in your extra 1,2 or 3 years of college ball, you wouldn't make any of the money calling your name in the pro leagues. Therefore, I think players should just go ahead and go pro so they can secure their financial futures while they're still physically able to do so....just a thought.

True but if you try to go pro like this guy, don't get drafted, go to the nbdl, you're sol. Plus, if basketball doesn't work out, which it very well may not, he probably doesn't have the academic merrit to get into a school as good as UNC and get a college degree.

True, but there are a lot of people who will give you advice before you go pro.

Anyway, in my opinion, you can always go back to school if you need to...you've (usually) only got one shot to go pro in a sport, so better to rack up 10 million bucks over three years, get injured, and secure your financial future, if you can, then stay in college ball.

I hope the UNC guy you are talking about isn't Brandan Wright, because he is getting playtime for a Golden State team whose coach normally doesn't play rookies.

A better example would be PJ Tucker from Texas. Big-12 Conference player, had a lot going for him, left for the NBA draft, and now I don't even think he is in Development leagues.

However, some circumstances a college student leaving for the NBA has a meaningful reason. Luol Deng has to support his family (including eight siblings) so I respect his decision to leave so early.

dukies should be glad they even made it to the 2nd round. they shoulda lost to belmont--a 15 seed!
