Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i want to cry :(

this SUCKS!

it isnt "**** lsu. its **** redick"

an exerpt from espn article:

"Redick, a favorite for player of the year, had one of his worst games in the finale of his college career. The Duke guard made only 3-of-18 shots, his shooting woes dooming a team that got a big performance from its other star, Shelden Williams."

its pretty much all of redicks fault. 3 for 18= 16.7% wow.

SERIOUSLY

Heres to our hopes in 2008 (we sure as hell aren't going to be true contenders next year)

i felt bad for reddick.. not a great game to go out on.. :-/
williams played awesome tho

Feel bad for Redick? Screw him. I've been saying he's going to blow the tourney for weeks. If you're going to feel bad for anyone, feel bad for Shelden.

Reddick didn't produce because LSU shut him dowwwwwwwn

I wanted to see Duke play UConn. :(

JJ choked last year as well. He only scored 13 points in the loss to Michigan State. And i love Sheldan but he was a nobody the last part of the game because he got into foul trouble like he did the past 2 years. I think Duke will be better off with out the two of them.

It's not that Redick is choking per se.

Think about it: every team in the country knows they have to stop Redick to win. They all try. Every single time a team steps on the floor, they know they are going to double or triple team Redick.

Sometimes, when you get to the tournament, somebody succeeds at stopping Redick. When that happens, Duke has a very good chance at losing.

It's not that Redick chokes in big games, since in the ACC tournament or NCAA tournament he is fine when we win. The problem is that when Redick is overly-well defended, Duke simply hasn't had the players over the last four years - Deng being the exception - to cover up the fact that we're a 7- or 8-seed without him.

He wasn't just well-defended, he played sloppy. Redick's slump before the ACC tourney was during the blitz of "all-time" records that he said messed with his head. Maybe winning the Rupp award yesterday was also a jinx.

its like a part of my life just died.

and it doesnt help that we're gonna be crap next year. or that UNC is going to be phenomenal.

3/18 sobs

Well, don't write off next year just yet. Let's wait a few games before we pronounce McRoberts, Paulus - two quality freshmen starters on a #1 seed - and Nelson "crap".

We won't compete with UNC, no. But I think we're good for a deep run - Sweet 16 again, is my guess.

McRoberts is leaving for sure.
why would he want to stay on with our depleted team that has a chance of winning nothing?

arrh..

McRoberts better stay, he's our only offensive player left minus the new recruits. Nelson is trash.

I just don't see it in McRoberts. This guy is supposed to go in the first half of the lottery and I have yet to see why. Yes he's 6'10" and he dunks very well. He rebounds pretty well. But the only time he gets any points are when Shelden or JJ gets double teamed and he gets lost in the shuffle.

Also, I don't know who told JJ that he's a threat inside the arc because he clearly is not. 0/9 shooting from inside the arc? Maybe some of those would have gone in if they hadn't been sent into the fifth row. Everybody was trying to do too much: JJ thought he was something more than just a shooter, Paulus and Nelson suddenly thought they were JJ-caliber shooters, and even Shelden only went 8/18. JJ was able to mask a lot of Duke's deficiencies throughout the year and when he went cold, role players weren't able to step up like Darnell Lazare did for LSU.

Agreed - Duke is a team whose success is based on role-players.

When they try to play the role they are not, bad things happen. And look at the "points from the bench" totals. For a good part of the first half, LSU had the advantage 10-0. The problem with having two All-Americans can be an over reliance on these players to carry the team....so in my opinion, once they clear out, we might have a lighter, quicker, younger Duke team. If we can get some good athleticism out of our recruits for next year, I believe we won't be too badly off. And it's not like Redick was trying to intentionally lose the game, guys. We didn't respond to the good defense or double-teams - we didn't capitalize on the defense's attention to our top players and shift the ball into the hands of capable 3rd scorers. In fact, we really don't even have a consistent 3rd scorer. That will change be default in the fall.

And if you remembered us playing GW, this looked like a different team. Nothing near the same intensity, aggression, or speed. Duke shot itself in the foot by not sticking to the gameplan, the only gameplan that works for a fundamentals/shooting/not so athletic team. I mean, McRoberts shot and missed two 3's. Note: that's when Duke is not playing as Duke.

I'm not sure I want to go Duke now, even if I get in.

Because our basketball team lost?!

if ur gonna base ur decision on this, trust me- you wont get in.

anyways hate to break it to u guys.. but mcroberts is leaving.. i know a bunch of guys on the chronicle sports staff and they know the players.. and its more or less confirmed.. aanother friend whose dad a a big time alum found out through his dad that mcroberts is a goners...

so yup.. we're screwed
