Another Curious Newbie- Where Can I go?

I'm really not sure where I stand as far as looking good on paper for colleges. Right now I'm thinking along the lines of Ohio State, Univ. of Connecticut, Purdue, etc. No where earth shattering(Harvard, Yale, etc.), but I'm still curious where I stand with schools like them. Suggestions for other possibles are welcome. But I would like to go out of state though (I live in rural Ohio) I will be a junior this fall.

GPA= 3.85 on the latest report card
ACT= unknown; (PLAN projected it to be high 20s) SAT= unknown.
Classes are all College Prep level & only 2 Cs in the last two years (freshman yr math & sci) and Bs have been kept to minimum as well.

Activities
FFA- 06 07 Reporter (this is WAY more than 3 letters & an office! I've recieved several local level awards-- hoping for state next year, also volunteer opportunities and many of those worthwhile/good experiance activities that could make for a good essay. I could go on, but I'll stop here!)
French Club (Secretary last yr & this coming yr)
Civics Club (Fresh & Soph. only- not for jrs & sr.s)
NHS [being inducted as soph. should stand out a little, right?]
School Newspaper Staff (as of this school year)
Choir(as of this school year as well)
Other
*Volunteer for local library, humane society, science center (COSI if you're familiar with Ohio) & active with church community activities
*4-H (Reporter for Club, Camp Counselor)
* Jr. Fair Board (board is in charge of all Jr. Fair events at county fair- includes coordinating 2 cattle shows for me)

A lot of my activities are agriculture based because I live in a rural area & on a family farm. I hope that doesn't ding me anywhere... I would hope it would look good because it's a change from the usual. Tell me what you think!

How about a little information on your interests, possible major, part of the country (besides just out-of-Ohio), difficulty of class load to this point (honors/IB/AP courses), urban/suburban/rural college, etc.? Just a little something more to go on since there are about 3,400 colleges we could suggest.

ok... well, i'm interested in an education major (possibly jr. high history)... I go to a good high school(state rating of excellent & district is rated effective), I'll have 1 AP this year & 2 or 3 next year (we don't have IB). I'm unsure of my exact class rank right now but I'd say I'm in or slightlyout of the top 10%. My classes so far have been pretty diffcult, freshman science was basically pre chem/intro to chem, even though it wasn't called that and lit & history has been challenging. I'm not too picky at this point about rural or urban location of a college, except I would like to stay on the east side of the Mississippi (nothing against the west coast, but I've never been out there & it'd be like a whole other country!) I'm thinking either South or New England just because they're total opposites of where I'm from & I'd like to experiance a new place. I like the 'small size, big feel' type thing. I hope this helps a little... don't go all out looking for colleges for me, just a few that you might recommend would be helpful. (Maybe some known for their education programs even?)
