I'm looking more towards Stanford, MIT, and even UCLA; any response will be appreciated, thank you.

With those stats and at least a 2250, you should be in the good applicant pool for most ivys except harvard, princeton, and yale which are tossups for everyone. And I think you need sat 2s for a couple of the ivys (not sure which schools). UCLA would be a slight reach/match, stanford and mit are reaches.

IN MY OPINION you need SAT IIs for pretty much all the ivies. im not sure you can get into HYPSM with those stats (esp if your asian), but you should get into UCLA, and perhaps penn, columbia. on the other hand, thats a ****load of community service, so maybe you have a chance at one of the elites. its a tossup, because ur someone that would be on the bubble, alot depends on ur presentation in the application. (i.e. make sure your essays are AWESOME)

there are so many factors for someone like you: where are you from? what ethnicity? what gender? what are your interests? how will ur interviews go?

no one here can give you a 100% qualified opinion, so take everything here with a grain of salt. you can have confidence for urself and hope for the best. there are harvard acceptees here who have been rejected by brown, rejected by babson, rejected by state schools. that is why i stressed "IN MY OPINION". and boosting the sat WILL help. and perhaps think of leaving out "national merit commendation" from ur elite applications, because there will be many semifinalists and finalists you will compete against. the commendation will make you look inferior, so leave it out.

you have a good shot at Stanford/Yale-- the schools who value extracurricular/leadership heavily. 2240 is a very good score..
PSAT 2040 is hella low to get a commendation? when did they give those out?

already completed Calculus BC as a sophomore? thats unique.
I'm also aiming hard for MIT... i just realized im fcked cuz i dont have any science/math awards besides being Siemen Westinghouse teamleader.

you probably, like me, have a better shot at the well-rounded schools.. since our EC's are our strength i guess? i dont know

btw im asian-indian and here are my SAT 2 scores so far:
IIC Math = 800
and i havent taken them yet, but im looking at least 700+ on the Physics and History

2240 is a great SAT for a top tier school. Granted it may not be an ivy league bound score, but it's fine dude. Some of the people here are being cynical.

I know someone who got into Brown on the old SAT with a 1310.

Just read through the college boards and see how many kids with very top stats did not get into ivies or near ivies this year. The new rule is to apply to these schools, but also have real safeties you're happy with!!

ladyinred, yea i am a junior. but im just guessing with what my counselor told me and what seniors have said. the cutoff to be qualified for national merit (into the finalist and semifinalist categories) in previous years was around 210, so im just guessing that i got a commendation
