Hi,
Ok i just posted one of these about Washington and Lee and basically same story here. One of my teachers graduated from Rice and has encouraged me to look into it. I have heard a lot about it here but have a few questions:

...is it really liberal or more apolitical (if there is such a thing)? I have heard conservatives beware and I have heard that everyone more or less respects everyone else. I know it is more liberal than Texas in general but am I going to be alienated for being a conservative?

...I don't know squat about journalism/ int'l relations programs. Any info? Also what about science in general?

...How is financial aid (out of state)

...anyone studied abroad?

...serious/party atmosphere?

ANY info is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Rice has a strong student code and you can represent your views from any viewpoint. We saw Bush and Kerry banners hanging from the same house windows in many cases.

Rice is one of the top schools to offer merit aid as well as need based aid. It also costs considerably less than other schools in its class.

Check out the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice.

thanks! I definitely will

my friend is a current freshman at Rice and he's very shocked at the amount of beer consumption on campus - way more than he expected. if you are moderate or a teetotaler this might not be the school for you. but the baker institute is amazing.

bump.....anyone else?

bummer. thanks though yeah I would be moderate at least..

Head over to the Rice board and you'll get more answers.
