Another Reason to APPLY to SUNY Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo is ranked first for out-of-state students and ninth for in-state students in Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine's 2013 list of best values among the nation's public four-year colleges. The rankings recognize four-year schools that combine outstanding education with economic value.

The annual list of the top 100 schools is available in Kiplinger's February 2013 issue and online.

"I believe this ranking and others like it reflect what Geneseo focuses on year after year: A commitment at every level to providing the highest quality undergraduate learning experience possible," said Christopher C. Dahl, president of SUNY Geneseo. "Students here are challenged in the classroom, but they also enjoy life-enhancing experiences beyond class that result in graduates thoroughly prepared for the next phase of their lives and for leadership in the 21st century. We frequently receive thanks from alumni for what the liberal and liberating education at Geneseo has done for them."

Geneseo's current in-state tuition is $5,570 per year with total costs of about $18,000. For out-of-state students, the figures rise to $14,820 and $27,330, respectively. Kiplinger's assesses quality according to a number of measures, including the admissions rate, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and the four-year graduation rate. Cost criteria include low tuition, abundant financial aid and low average debt at graduation.

"We applaud this year's top 100 schools for their efforts to maintain academic standards while meeting the financial needs of their students," said Janet Bodnar, editor of Kiplinger's Personal Finance.
