Another, 'ugh! my chances!' thread...

Hello all. I know it's dumb, just waiting for that yes or no in the mail, but we're all a little antsy, right? Pomona's my top choice college, and I've seriously doubted my chances of getting in to this place. So, go ahead and size me up...

GPA: 3.8 (3.773)
UW GPA: 3.4 (3.409)
Ranked 101 of 494

best SAT scores (I heard Pomona only looks at the highest results...)
Math: 600
Verbal: 690
Writing: 670

Both times I took the SAT I got an 1880. Weird.

SAT2s:

US Hist. - 670
Literature - 610
French - 750

APs:
European Hist. - 3
U.S. Hist. - 5
French - 4
English Lang. - 4

Current Schedule:
AP English
AP French
AP Gov
AP Environmental Science
Symphonic Band (as I have for 4 years)
Statistics

ECs:
- Songwriter's Club (secretary, contributor, trying to schedule studio dates)
- French Club (just a member)
- Taken brief lessons in Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese
- A.C.T. Young Conservatory (played lead role... technically, a part shared by 3 other people, but that's still the lead role.. hehheh)
- Played Saxophone & Clarinet in various parades and galas and whatnot
- I mentioned that I did a beach cleanup thing once (kinda pathetic, but I put it in there anyways)

Other tidbits of info:
-I dropped out of an honors chemistry class with a D and redid over the summer (got a B.) That'll hurt me. But actually, I got a really good essay out of it that ties into my love of foreign languages.
-I'd say my essays are pretty darn good, better than the rest of my application.
-I also submitted a visual arts supplement (drawing has always come as a natural impulse, and I showed my art to my interviewer and he said I should include it despite never taking a formal art class)
-And I submitted a music supplement with an original song, notated and stuff.
- My interview went really well, I felt. But that's just the interview.
- I'm under ED2.

SO... I always knew this school was a reach, but seeing people posting their info with a bunch of awards and merits and 2000+ on their SATs and 4.0s and beyond and STILL saying it's a reach, tell me honestly: should I have even bothered? My application looks pathetic compared to everyone else's here, both rejected and accepted... but I'd like your opinion. Pats on the back. Brutal honesty. Whatever.

You know what. Nevermind. I already know its an enormous reach, I don't need that reiterated. This'll only prolong my unhealthy obsession with college apps. Forget this thread, thanks if you looked.

raphaelinho -

First of all, welcome to CC as a poster. And yes, I do agree that it is a reach; however, having had S get accepted by a school (UCLA) that was a reach and into a program (Design and Media Arts) that was even a bigger reach (600 apps for 55 slots), I encourage you to remain positive. Even though you're not feeling all that optimistic, a good interview can only help.

Good luck!

It wasn't a waste of time to apply. It never is. Who knows? I know someone at my school who didn't have the best grades, but he was really outgoing at my school and was someone who was really passionate about life. He got into Pomona, and I saw him recently when I stayed the night at the campus.

Just keep your fingers crossed! Good luck.

Thanks for the support. College shouldn't be as stressful as it is. I'm pretty sure I got a good chance at a UC [blank] campus, so, if I don't get into Pomona, it's no heartbreaker. Would be nice, though...
