1). You need to maintain a 2.8 during the preprofessional years, and then a 2.5 during the professional years.
2). I’ve never heard of anyone being disallowed from continuing because of the interview.
5). Definitely AP out of bio. Just about everyone will tell you to do so…and every time I mention that I APed out of bio, I’m told that I made a good choice.
6). You can definitely still have a social life/participate in outside activities. I’m going to be on eboard of the Chinese Dance Troupe next year. Definitely take advantage of the time you have during the first two years to try out new things.
Another thing in your favor is the APs you’ve taken. APing out of bio will relieve you of a lot of stress. Since you’ve taken AP Chem, you’ll probably do well in Gen Chem too. Calculus over here will be a joke for you since you’ve taken BC, and you can skate through gen psych (really easy A…I rely on knowledge from AP and get As). You’re pretty much set for your first year, haha.

what classes can i get out of with AP us history and human geography?

soc/hum electives, if I’m not mistaken.

My guess on why we cant minor: We are not allowed to minor because we don’t have a major. We don’t graduate with a Bachelor of Science or Arts so its impossible to minor without a major. We graduate with a Doctorate of Pharmacy (and that’s it). With that said, the pharmacy school has taken an initiative recently to look into dual degree programs - Pharm.D/PhD and Pharm.D/MBA in particular … so for those of you that are still young, these programs may be in place by the time you come here.

It is not easy to get a 3.7+ GPA; you’ll need to work hard (but it isn’t impossible). The drop out rate is rather high, and the minimum GPA isn’t even that high (2.8 as someone said before).

And yes, AP out of Chemistry or Biology.

thanks!

could i get out of those electives with 4’s on both? or do i need a 5?

What percentage of students in Rutgers Pharmacy are out-of-state?

Hello, I just got informed today that I got accepted into the 2+4 prepharm program. I have to make a decision by tomorrow or I don’t meet the dead line
I’ve always wanted to do Pharmacy.
Is the 2+4 route basically the same was 0-6 in New Brunswick? Do I have to take the PCATs? Do I automatically get into New Brunskwick?

Do we get to celebrate senior days as well and if so, what year?

54mas92: No, you don’t have to take the PCATs, and yes, you automatically go to NB for your professional years as long as you have at least 2.8 GPA and pass the interview.

Is there a chance that I won’t pass the interview? (I don’t want to take a risk. It’s that, or I have to secure my spot in a 0-6 program! o.O ahh)
Do people ever get rejected from the profession years in the 2+4 program?

and if I go to NB after 2 years, is there a way I can obtain financial aid or scholarships from there? (bc basically, if i go to NB, I have no money haha)

Do you recommend that I go into the 2+4 program or go to USP?
thanks!

Although Rutgers has a better pharmacy school, I would chose USP because of the “guaranteed” admission. And you can later apply for transfer from there to Rutgers, with a secured spot at USP.

Hello Lurker, I have a ton of questions that I was wondering you could answer for me please =)

First off, I’m in pretty bad shape GPA-wise. I go to Rutgers Newark and am going to be a senior. I have a very dismal GPA of 2.2. I haven’t completed all the required courses yet being that I still have to take Human Physiology, Statistical Methods, Economics Micro, Organic Chem Lab, & 4 Humanities/Social Science Electives I only took 1 social science elective out of the 5 that I’m supposed to.. I’m in pretty bad shape I know but I am currently studying for the PCATs which I take in October. I have no extracurricular activities or no pharmacy tech experience as of yet (but I plan on doing the pharm tech job, this summer). I am dead set on trying to get into Rutgers Pharmacy so is there ANY possible way I can do this? I am planning on getting a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology first before applying to the Pharm School.
Please help & thank you.

Hi, I am wondering if it’s worth it to get into Rutgers if you are out of state? it’s like 8% if out of state kids there, and I question if I’d be able to even afford the out of state tuition.

If I’m not mistaken, after the first year, you can be considered in-state. I know something like that works for the california publics.

Hey guys,
I was wandering, if students want to major in medicine, they have to take prerequisites. Well, if a student wants to become a pharmacist, does he or she have to take prerequisites, or does he or she go straight into pharmacy?

What do you mean by “major in medicine” and “prerequisites”?

Pre-meds technically major in something science-related such as bio, biomedE, chemistry, etc. and then take the medical school course requirements necessary for application.

Pharmacy students can start out in the School of Pharmacy as freshmen or transfer in. They have prerequisite classes they must take in order to take their higher-level pharmacy classes and such, though.

Every higher-level class typically has prerequisite class(es) a student must take for him/her to be eligible to take that course, which is why I am confused as to your use of that term.

heyy everyone…
i’m going to be a high school senior this September but I’m wondering if you could help me decide which classes I should take (i’m trying to apply to Rutgers pharmacy by the way lol)

I’m definitely going to take AP Calc BC and AP Bio…
but i’m trying to decide between AP Spanish or AP English, AP Government or AP Psychology, or AP Macromicro economics.

I was going to take 4 or 5 AP’s in total…

thanks for all your help! :)

Take any AP you want. At the end, you can only exempt 8 credits (one AP).

but will it look better to take certain AP’s?
